What are your views on imitation bait? I used artificial corn the other week and caught my first barbel (see the gallery!!). I've only tried it a couple of times so i'm still not sure whether or not it's a bit of a fluke??? Not arguing though!! lol

welcome aboard mate, reckon artificial baits have come along way, difficult to tell them apart from the real things!! I'm slowly becoming converted, just gotta have them amongst some real bait for them to be there most effective. I'll definitely be using them again.

I found the imitation dog biscuits the best artrificial bait this year, the reasons behind this is because it stays on the hook, you can present the hook out of the water and you can cast at good range without a controller. I am a match angler but i do like to do the odd bit of surface fishing now and again. My leather Carp in the gallery was taken on the same bait. As for the Pop up corn maize and the other fake baits im sure they are just as good as the real thing if the fish are feeding with confidence.

I've tried the plastic hemp, but not too much success. I don't know why 'cos it looks good enough......perhaps they weren't 'frenzied' enough (good pun eh?).

Welcome aboard Pleasure Angler, That seems to be the general view of anglers i've spoken to about this. They love the fact that it won't come off the hook, but will only fish it amongst some real offerings. If i'm honest that's the only time i'll use it, but there's no doubt it's effective!!

i think this bait can be good on heavily stocked waters or when the fish ar in a frenzie i dont think that when the fish are just peckind the baits with no confidence they will pick up artificial baits 2 b honest
i no id rather a indian to a bit of plastic and im sure the carp and other species can tell the difference even on the murkyest of waters
